NEITHER BLACK NOR WHITE

When God looks at mankind, He doesn’t see us as different races. He doesn’t see different social standings. He doesn’t see color or creed. God looks past all the superficial things that our culture seems to magnify — what we wear, what we drive and what we look like — and He sees us all the same; not black or white, just His beautiful creation. Not upper class or lower class; just one big family.

This might have been easier to believe should not we live in this cynical world.

Being pragmatic, we need to consider that the above paragraph is completely laughable if not insane. When God reaches out to us -at all times- He sees the real life, our deeds and failures, our joys and sorrows, our judgments and vices, our flesh and our soul.

In our daily struggles, we encounter this planet is not what it was meant to be. Facts speak louder than words when you realize that we are born the same biologically but not socially. A long road of injustices and unfairness are met along the way.

Have a look at the main leaders in the so called Cuban Revolution this March 2011.
According to the last census in Cuba:

   Browns                     51 %
   Whites                      37 %
   Blacks                      11   %
   Chinese                      1 %

---- Black people make 80% of the population in jails. Most of them are under 40 years old.
----Out of the top 250 leaders in the communist party and government only 11% are brown or black. This makes around 25 people in all in a population where 88 percent of people are either brown or black.

---- There are only 3 or 4 ranked Generals in the army

----- 87 % of Cuban soldiers who have died at battle abroad are black.

-----80% of students who study at universities are white.

These figures take us to a better understanding of our national dilemma. There is a huge gap between the two races in the Cuban society of this 21 century.
Most well equipped houses are possessed by whites. Most of the people who get the best jobs in tourism and  the so called mixed enterprises are white. There is not a black cuban who runs a hotel nor a very strategic economical facility in Cuba.Castro’s methodology in these 50 years in power has been that of segregating people by their race and ideology.
We-Cubans-have been raised in a land of colors. We have taught our children not to marry a black person.Since then on,white cuban  people use a very well known popular saying: Once white girls go black; they never come back. Generations till now have had this prejudice against individuals of a dark color since our Spaniards ancestor who conquered and enslaved this part of the Atlantic.

For many centuries african slaves were mistreated like wild animals. They were raised and sold to produce for the whites under the only benefit of  hand of food to keep them alive in the plantations.

Clear eye.The expresssed above leads us to understand in a sense  both brothers:Fidel and Raul. They were educated in a very despotic and hateful family. Their father, Angel Castro earned his living from a sugar cane cutter to a land owner.
Was it hard work that let him to become wealthy in a brink of an eye?
Angel’s lovable affiliation to the Spanish army was notorious at his times. He detested those in the wilderness who fought against the Metropoly like Antonio Maceo.

A Cuban instructor of English as a Second Language(ESL) in Miami wrote to his coordinator:

You have not answered back my last email to on February 2nd, 2011.I hope you have the goodwill to come down to this Earth and share with me why you insist on pushing me off of our program for refugees.

From today on, you can brag about your best efforts to delete the only black Cuban instructor from your program.

No matter what’s going on around me today, I can put my shoulders back and put a smile on my face. Do you know why?
Greater is the One who is in me than anyone who can be against me.
The door of my heart will always remain open to you.
I hold no hard feelings in my merciful soul for you.
Thanks a lot…’

We have seen in all period of our national development how black and white have mingled in crescendo. Why?...It is  the hand of God.
It is due time to get together and live together. We are all in a very diverse world. What should really matter to us is to preserve a good heart and to love each others in his love. We- as human- are nothing and will continue to nullify our Creator if persevere in our shortcoming.Jesus is always watching us from a distance of a heart beat. Come together in harmony and peace as one in our big profound shade of loving defragmentation of the light, anywhere.

This saying is a  segregational turning  point but this does not mean by any means that white and black in Cuba are incompatibles. They get along perfectly well as friends and neighbors indeed.

There is a racial conflict enunciated by Panfilo in his 2011 you tube video. This sort of underground popular voice - who only speaks the truth and nothing but the truth in his own folklore when he is drunk- reprehended:

‘… Racial discrimination in the United States?
Nope. Should you happen to see a black or brown person in Cuba in a very good job; white people start looking for ways to get rid of them. They make a huge pressure on them to have them out of the workplace at once’.
